The world's first "Souvenir Jacket Exhibition" was held at the Yokosuka Museum of Art in 2022.
In response to the many reprint requests received on the occasion of the exhibition, the patterns were carefully selected from the vintage Souvenir Jacket collection of Taylor Toyo, which was on display at the exhibition, and two A-sides (the main side) were incorporated into one luxurious "double A-side" piece.
The surface features a star-spangled banner design with a map of Japan in the center, red and white stripes from the Pacific Ocean to the entire globe, and stars on a blue background.
And above it is an eagle, the symbol of the United States.
It is based on a vintage item made in the late 1940s, and was custom-ordered by U.S. soldiers stationed in Japan shortly after the war.
The reversible side has a very rare Japan map pattern with weeping cherry blossoms surrounding a Japanese map.
There are many combinations of cherry blossoms and maps on vintage Souvenir Jackets, but this is the only one we have found with weeping cherry blossoms embroidered on the reverse side.
Since the names of the places marked on the jacket are concentrated in the west, it is thought that the jacket was sold around U.S. military bases such as Shimonoseki and Kure.

The most standard type of Souvenir jacket, reversible type with acetate fabric on both sides.
In the postwar period, acetate fabric was used for Sukajan, which was not silk, but an item that was not subject to material control.
Since there is no padding, it can be worn in any season, and its unique drape is also an attractive feature.
