Features
Since that time, crepe crepe has often been used for aloha shirts with oriental designs, but this piece is a rare one that boldly depicts chrysanthemum flowers on filament rayon. Using a special textile printing technique called "nukusome," the chrysanthemums that form the motif are not only dyed through but also beautifully expressed in three-dimensional form. The distribution of these fabrics in Hawaii led to a high evaluation of Japanese textile printing techniques at the time, and led to many orders for more fabrics.
