BR02696 / BUZZ RICKSON'S U.S. NAVY TEST SAMPLE DENIM CAP
Denim cap used by the U.S. Navy in the 1940s, including World War II. The label indicating Experimental Garment (developmental test garment) is gear indicating a rare and highly sought after test sample. The mold is cut to resemble the pattern on the top of a leather flying helmet head used during World War II and consists of four vertical pieces. The visor is long and square, unlike those used for mechanics and work, so we can assume that its purpose is to protect the eyes from ultraviolet rays, similar to the B-1 flying caps used by the Army Air Corps.
