The front has a zipper instead of a button fly. Although there were no actual vintage pants with zip-front, the HOOKLESS zipper used in vintage jackets of the same period was adopted to ensure consistency with the period.
The edges of the pocket openings are reinforced with rivets. Suspender buttons are sewn on rather than hammered in so that they can be removed when not in use. Hip pockets are cut horizontally, as seen in the 1930s and earlier. The tool pocket on the right side was used as a candle holder in those days.
