BR15144 / BUZZ RICKSON'S Type M-1943 LINER “BUZZ RICKSON CLOTHING CORP.”

The M-1943 Field Jacket incorporated a layering system that allows for a thermal liner in winter. Alpaca wool pile was used for the lining of the liner to keep the wearer warm. The M-43 field jacket with this layering system was so influential that it changed the direction of subsequent jackets. During World War II this liner was not allowed to be worn alone, but the photographic records show that it was, perhaps because it became a retired model during the Korean War. The combination layer system used in the M-43 has had a tremendous impact on today's civilian outdoor apparel.
