Features
This jacket, known as the N-1, was used in combination with trousers made of the same material from World War II through the Korean War for the crews of U.S. Navy vessels.
As with other deck jackets, the outer material used is cotton grosgrain, usually called "jungle cloth.
The navy blue model of the N-1 was adopted in 1944, followed by the khaki model in 1945.
The changes were not limited to the color, but also included the omission of the alpaca mohair sewn on the inside of the cuffs, the simplification of the loops attached to the underarm lining and hem cord, the enlargement of the hem cord eyelets, and the position of the underarm eyelets.
