Kawanabe Kyosai was an ukiyoe artist active from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji era (1868-1912), who took the name "狂斎" in 1857, initially using "暁斎" but later changing it to "Kyosai". As can be seen from the character, he incorporated opposition to society into his works and left behind many caricatures. His tumultuous history as an artist began at the age of six, when he was introduced to Utagawa Kuniyoshi, an ukiyoe artist who had already trained many students at the time. There, he carefully observed people fighting with each other and thoroughly learned how to depict each movement, and his own talent blossomed.

The skeletons depicted in this "Kyosai manga" are skeletons, and the skeletal movements of such people are vividly depicted. Sun Surf deconstructed and reconstructed those lines to express a sense of dynamism. The pattern is also accented on the sleeves and collar, incorporating specifications seen on aloha shirts from the 1950s and 1960s.
