SS39012 / SUNSURF RAYON HAWAIIAN SHIRT "SHOWING HAWAIIAN ISLAND" ALOHA SHIRT
This shirt was made after the war by Tanaka Sportswear Shop, which later became Pacific Sportswear Co. The company started as a dressmaker in 1934. This piece, released in the late 1940s, was very popular with tourists from the U.S. mainland, and it has been confirmed in photographs taken at the time that the typeface was changed and the design was further modified in some patterns. This design, which has an image similar to that of a tourist pamphlet, can be considered the origin of the aloha shirt as a souvenir item.
