The faded black body serves as a striking backdrop for the vivid green dragon and colorful thunderclouds. The flowing whiskers and dynamic mane, meticulously horizontal swing embroidery, required exceptional skill and time, making this a piece that only master artisans of the era could create. The chest embroidery, depicting a fully rendered dragon and tiger in combat, is a rare and remarkable feature.
The reversible side showcases a majestic eagle, poised to strike its prey with talons extended. The wings, beautifully shaded in brown gradation gradients, create a stunning three-dimensional effect. The deep blue satin fabric, aged for a subdued luster, evokes the clarity of a bright sky, while the clouds drifting from Mount Fuji in the background extend to the eagle’s tail feathers, enhancing the depth and drama of the composition.
