SS39226 / SUNSURF RAYON HAWAIIAN SHIRT “THE SONG OF HAWAII”

The piece created by Raymond Sasaki and the Marihini Sportswear Company in the early 1950s features titles of traditional Hawaiian songs scattered across the shirt along with musical notes, vividly expressed through discharge printing. This technique beautifully matches the resort-like scenery of Hawaii. Raymond had an artistic talent, and even before the establishment of the company, he manufactured and sold tablecloths and pillow covers printed with his own artwork. He also engaged in wholesaling fabric for dresses and curtains.
