The Strike Gold SGJ40X is a denim jacket made from the 14oz selvedge denim developed for the Origin Series. Its design takes inspiration from denim jackets of the mid-1940s, an era commonly associated with the simplified “wartime” models.
Rather than reproducing an original garment detail for detail, The Strike Gold approached the period as a starting point. The restrained construction, strong visual presence, and functional details of vintage workwear were carefully studied and reinterpreted through the brand’s own perspective.

The jacket features a single chest patch pocket, front pleats, box stitching, a simplified button configuration, and a rear iron cinch back—details that recall the straightforward construction of mid-1940s denim jackets. These period-inspired elements are combined with signature The Strike Gold details, including original iron buttons, iron rivets, and a deerskin leather label.
The fabric is the Origin Series 14oz right-hand twill selvedge denim, woven at low tension with a neppy blend that gives the surface a naturally irregular texture. With repeated wear and washing, the denim develops increasingly individual character. Creases and areas of friction around the sleeves, chest, front placket, pocket, and seams gradually emerge as distinctive fades and wear patterns unique to the wearer.
Built with respect for vintage denim, but never intended as a simple copy of the past.
Starting from the functional beauty of a mid-1940s denim jacket, the SGJ40X represents The Strike Gold’s own interpretation of what such a garment should be today—an Origin Series jacket designed to gain depth, character, and individuality through years of wear.
