In the 1960s, the U.S. Military Procurement Office in Japan chose to procure camouflage clothing in Japan. This was because of the combination of advanced printing technology, speedy production, and cost-effectiveness. The patterns were left to the factories in Japan, which is why there are so many variations of the Tiger Stripe pattern. While most of the early Tiger Stripes were made in Japan, some fabric was sent to Okinawa to be sewn, and others were manufactured in Thailand and around Vietnam during the latter part of the Vietnam War. These shorts are a Buzz Lixons original, modified by cutting the length of the pants.
