BR15566 / BUZZ RICKSON'S Type B-15B “B.RICKSON MFG.CO.

The B-15B, an improved version of the B-15A, was adopted in 1945. Initially produced in small quantities from cotton, most B-15Bs were made from nylon between 1949 and 1950. Nylon, developed by DuPont in 1939, was first used in military flight jackets like the B-15B and L-2. The B-15B featured a single rectangular tab for securing the oxygen mask hose instead of the two triangular tabs on the B-15A. The left sleeve pocket, previously only for pens, was upgraded with a zipper to accommodate both cigarettes and pens. The B-15A’s alpaca pile lining was replaced in the B-15B with wool pile covered by nylon, preventing shedding and moth damage while improving mobility.
