The M-51 parka is an evolution of the pullover-type parka adopted by the US Army during World War II. Its design continues to be widely used in civilian clothing even today, exerting a significant and immeasurable influence. It was introduced in 1951, shortly after the outbreak of the Korean War. In the frigid Korean Peninsula, a layering system was implemented, allowing the parka to be worn over the uniform, and it also included a detachable liner. During the same period in the early 1950s, the US Air Force developed the masterpiece of flight jackets, the MA-1.
