BR12984 / BUZZ RICKSON'S Type L-2A “SUPERIOR TOGS CORP.”

The Type L-2A (Spec. MIL-J-5391A) was adopted as an improved model of the Type L-2 (Spec. MIL-J-5391) in the early 1950s during the Korean War. It features Air Force blue; the symbolic color of the newly formed USAF (US Air Force) became independent from the USAAF (US Army Air Forces). The jacket's wearing temperature range is assumed to be 10°C to 30°C, the light zone defined by the USAF. In the previous L-2 model, the clip-mounted tabs that held the oxygen mask hose were made of leather, but it was replaced with herringbone tape in the L-2A. The L-2A was delivered to the military only three times, and each delivery was rare. This L-2A model was produced by Superior Togs Co. Inc..
