FEATURES
The M-65, which boasts a very high degree of perfection among field jackets, has evolved through repeated improvements and developments since the introduction of the M-41 jacket.
The M-65 is a long-lasting field jacket that has been used by the U.S. Army for nearly 30 years, although there have been minor changes to its specifications since its adoption.
There are also many jackets based on the M-65 design, and it has had a great influence on civilian clothing.
The outer shell of the 1st and 2nd models of the M-65 was "back satin," a thick cotton satin lining, but a cotton/nylon blend was adopted for the 3rd model.
The reason behind this change was that the local Vietnamese market, which is tropical and humid, required a material that was thin and easy to dry even when wet.
The M-65 became lighter in weight from the 3rd model than the back satin fabric of the initial model, and the functionality of the M-65 was greatly improved by the introduction of nylon synthetic fiber.
