The Matson Line was a luxury cruise ship that sailed between San Francisco and Hawaii in the 1940s.
The cover of the restaurant menu was used as the motif for the shirt, commonly known as the "menu pattern.
The design, drawn by artist Frank McIntosh, was popular at the time, and even today it is one of the most coveted vintage Aloha shirts by collectors all over the world.
