tt15975-119
TT15975-119 / TAILOR TOYO Mid 1950s Style Velveteen (Two-tone) × Acetate Souvenir Jacket “WHITE TIGER” × “GOLD DRAGON”

A two-tone velveteen souvenir jacket that, among vintage examples, could rightly be called ultra-rare. As with satin souvenir jackets, the body and underside of the sleeves are finished in contrasting colors, yet the final impression is entirely different. The rich texture of the velveteen gives the jacket an exceptional presence that sets it apart at first glance.
The design is based on a mid-1950s vintage piece depicting a white tiger from an uncommon, slightly elevated diagonal angle, a composition rarely seen even among vintage tiger motifs. Rather than filling every stripe of the tiger’s markings with embroidery, portions of the black velveteen are intentionally left visible. This technique sharpens the outline of the tiger while giving the motif a strong sense of depth and dimension.
The reversible side features a magnificent gold dragon embroidered in an arched composition that stretches across the entire back. The oversized block-letter “JAPAN” is another distinctive detail, larger than typically seen on souvenir jackets of this style. With Mount Fuji depicted below the dragon, the design gains depth and perspective, creating a grand sense of scale worthy of a true mid-century souvenir jacket.
